I knew I'd play with this site for a few days...then leave it to rot. I guess my blog has turned into my refrigerator.

My parents are coming for a visit this weekend, to listen to my choir perform their annual cantata. We're doing a fetival of Carols from around the world, and are singing in some new and different languages. It should be fun...

It was so nice to work with such professional people today...people that know the difference between A 440, and A 445.

As I said in my previous post, I got to help my friend Kenley record music for his video game. Considering we didn't have any rehearsals, and had only 2 hours to record...we did a great job. Normally, it takes a full day of recording to get everything right...but things seemed to come together well. I've never worked with professionals before, only community kind of players...so this was one hell of an experience for me. I learned quite a bit in only 2 hours.

I had a disastrous day in Winnipeg, thanks to the storm we got hit with Tuesday…my buss was hit by a car : |

I wont go into the details…cause its quite boring. I missed my lesson, and a rehearsal thanks to the glorious weather we’ve had.

The end of the week will bring my review, as well as a final version of the stuff we recorded today.

Asian Flush no more!

Ever since I started at University, and got my hands on alcohol, I learned that I fall into the 50% of Asians that have what's called the Asian Flush. After a half glass of wine(or a beer) I turn bright red, get nauseated, and my heart starts pumping fast. While my friends always made fun of me, calling me a cheap drunk(although I've only been drunk a few times), I always personally knew my tolerance level was much higher. I just didn't want to risk getting sick.

I finally Googled "Asian Flush", and discovered it's a genetic thing...I don't have the proper enzymes in my liver to break down alcohol properly. One way to solve the problem is pretty easy, take a couple Pepcid AC's before drinking. Problem solved! I'll have to try it this weekend, and get really smashed, or something. I can only hope this solves my embarrasing problem.

I also discovered that this genetic flaw makes it harder for Asian's to become alcoholics. When was the last time you saw a drunk Asian? This genetic flaw also enabled doctors to develop a pill that induces the Flush, for alcholics. Interesting.

I promised a review of Dawn of Sorrow, but that wont come until later in the week, I think. I've got too much to do.

Tomorrow I get to help my friend Kenley record music for his video game, he's composed full orchestral music to go with the game...and being the music geek he is, got a choir. I cant wait to help him with this, cause the music he's written is really great. Maybe i'll post the finished product.

Cute, eh? I ate him for dinner.

I had hoped that my weekend would be at least a little interesting, but it wasn't. I spent Friday at my friends house, durring which we had the last BBQ of the season. It was a nice and balmy 10 degrees out. We wont see that again until May, most likely.

I thought I was going to get Guitar Hero this week, but it turns out I need to save my money for my next tuition payment...which means I wont be able to buy the game even if it comes in. Of course, i'd be willing to accept all donations via paypal to get this awesome game, and if you send me money to buy Sushi as well, i'll invite you over to rock out with me. I think that's pretty fair.

On a cooler note, the new Harry Potter movie hits the theaters this Friday. Anybody that knows me knows that i'm a Harry Potter freak, and I hope to go with a few friends to check it out. I'm not going to the midnight showing though, cause little kids smell.

I'm American, so i'm used to celebrating Memorial day. We do that in May...and we don't use poppies. But it seems like everywhere else in the world people have the little red flowers pinned to their jackets. I like them.

I saw something on the news last night, and it has me really pissed off. It seems as if prisoners here in Manitoba are getting tattoos for free courtesy of the residents of Manitoba. While I think people getting tattoos need a clean safe place to do it, I don’t think prisoners have the right to get free tattoos. What bothered me the most about this was that residents of Manitoba don’t have the right to vote about how their money is spent. I love Canada and everything, but this is just wrong.

While tattoos might not cost that much, and it would probably cut down on illness among prisoners who tattoo themselves with dirty needles and the like, i'd rather see that money spent on a zero tolerance policy or something in the prisons.

Getting political in my blog isn’t really what I wanted, but I’ll do it if I have to. I’m a pretty hardcore republican/conservative, so I’m pretty sure I’ll spark some angry comments :)

Rule 2. If the conductor is ever wrong, refer to rule 1.

People can be so god-damned pretentious in orchestras. Especially the conductor. I guess that's the nature of the beast, but I don't care anymore. An orchestra must work together to do anything, and the conductor uses that co-operation as his instrument. If that conductor's ego gets in the way, ever, the orchestra blocks him out, and he and the orchestra gets frustrated. Anybody who has ever worked in any group with a team leader knows this!

When I grow up and become a symphonic conductor, I'm going to change the way people see an orchestra. No longer will it be a bunch of snobs with attitudes who think they're high and mighty because they can play Beethoven, and we'll scrap the tuxedos. No wonder young people don't like orchestras...

Whatever. It doesn't matter anymore, I have to play, it's my duty to play, and I'll keep playing...Just don't expect me to like it.

I still don't have Guitar Hero, cause Ebgames is backordered, or something. So I wont be rocking out to Iron Man anytime soon, kinda disappointing. I did completely finish Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for my DS, in about 60 hours. Not bad for a Castlevania, and I'm happy with the game. The touch features get in the way though.

I guess that's it for today, I feel better now that I ranted about the demons of an orchestra.

I'll be willing to bet anything that this will be my first, and last blog posting ever. I've got no clue who actually reads these things, as I've never really read anybody else's...so, here goes.

It's supposed to snow tonight, it already snowed once here, and that was back in October, on my birthday. I can't remember a birthday that has ever been white, the earliest I can remember getting snow was on Halloween...the last Halloween I went trick-or-treating.

So I had hoped to have Guitar Hero by today, as EBgames said it would be here on the 8th...and in usual EBgames fashion, they didn't have it today. I just hope I get it soon, as I've been looking for a rhythm game that I can play without freaking out my neighbors.

Maybe I will post another of these...you never know.
